Subject: The Fourth of July Fireworks Started Early (And We're the Ones Getting Burned)
My fellow exit-liquidity providers,
The casino is dark for the holiday, leaving us to stare at our red portfolios and wonder if George Washington would have wanted us to trade 0DTEs on July 3rd. The sub spent the day unpacking yesterday's semi massacre, mourning a sandwich chain, and collectively deciding that Michael Burry is either a prophet or a lucky autist who made exactly one good trade.
[PLTR]: Palantir CEO Alex Karp's live TV meltdown — where he argued AI models have been "completely over, irresponsibly over-sale" while looking like he took double Adderall — was the highest-scoring post of the session. External news outlets called it a "televised nervous breakdown", which is exactly the energy you want from the CEO of a company selling surveillance software at 90x earnings.
[MU / MEMORY / SK HYNIX]: Micron reported a "solid quarter" but got sold off hard anyway, and the sub blames Meta's excess compute rental announcement, plain profit-taking, or the looming SK Hynix IPO making MU the ugly stepchild of AI memory plays. Meanwhile, South Korean stocks hit the buy circuit breaker and gained 5% while the US market was closed — because of course the KOSPI can party without us.
[META / SAMSUNG]: Meta is reportedly exploring a $7.7 billion AI chip deal with Samsung just one day after the sub learned that Facebook has excess compute to rent out — it’s almost as if Zuck is building a second AI bubble inside the first one, and someone in the comments pointed out that changing plans every 15 minutes isn't a strategy.
[BURRY / AI SHORTS]: Michael Burry is back in the WSJ talking about the "beginning of the end" with new AI short bets, and the sub's collective response is that he has predicted 15 of the last 3 bubbles — so you know it’s either time to buy puts on everything or completely ignore a guy who shorted Lululemon calls last year.
[JERSEY MIKE'S]: The sandwich chain filed for an IPO, and the sub is already mourning the death of a decent sub sandwich before the first trade, with external news revealing that a stepson received $50 million in compensation and the company owns a $41 million aircraft — the restaurant quality will now enter its terminal velocity phase.
[AMZN]: Amazon's Leo satellite constellation reached 396 birds and is ready for commercial service, but the sub calls it "subscription-based space garbage" and points out that New Glenn still has a "chode payload", so the bull case is that space junk will eventually block the sun and solve global warming.
[OPENAI / TRUMP]: OpenAI reportedly offered the Trump administration a 5% stake in the company, which the sub correctly identifies as the most transparent bribe since Sam Altman started looking like a cartoon cow, with one user translating the proposal as "the arrangement would incentivize the government to cover our crippling financial downside".
[YOLO 7,546%]: One user turned $30k into $2.3M by falling to $150k five or six times along the way, which is either legendary risk management or a cry for help — the sub is leaning toward the latter but still upvoted it to 4,359 because we respect anyone who can watch that equity curve and not throw up.
[YOLO 740%]: A Canadian degenerate traded student loans into $2M CAD, lost 95% of it on MSTR, and is now recovering with a 740% two-week run — the top comment is "you’re going to lose it all again, I guarantee it," which is basically a WSB endorsement and a call to double down.
[LIQUIDATION]: A 24-year-old got liquidated after losing $75k over six years, swore "never again," and the sub’s top response is "see you on Monday" because statistically, half of you will be back before the opening bell rings.
The market is closed for freedom, but the bagholding never rests. If you need me, I'll be staring at my SPX puts and wondering if Karp's leather jacket will auction for more than my portfolio.
Stay solvent (somehow),
Hindsight Henry
