Subject: Jobs Are Down, Abel Is Buying, and the Calls Are Still Free
My fellow exit-liquidity providers,
The labor market is shedding jobs, the crash veterans are dusting off their memoirs, and Berkshire finally woke up from a 14-quarter nap to buy the dip. Naturally, the only rational response is 0DTE calls.
US PAYROLLS: Payrolls "unexpectedly" fell 23,000 in July, and the top comment was already pointing out that the World Cup temp jobs weren't going to sustain. One commenter was confused why markets shot up 1%; another had the thread's answer: No jerbs means only way to make money is stonks.
DOT-COM AND GREAT RECESSION CRASHES: A veteran reminder with 3,275 points that previous crashes brought waves of Wall Street suicides and a years-long directionless wasteland for equities was met with the appropriate response: Calls. At least one poster is holding a $4,000,000 triple-leveraged SPX position, so the learning curve remains vertical.
BRK: Berkshire's cash pile fell from a record $397.4B to $365.5B as Greg Abel made nearly $20B in net stock purchases after 14 straight quarters of selling. The sub's reaction was the usual binary: Bottom in or he's an idiot, while CNBC frames it as the new CEO finally starting to deploy Buffett's hoard and Yahoo tallies a $4.5B buyback. One regard is still begging him to buy the entire f***ing MU.
PLTR/ZETA: One regard printed $1,510,891 in a month on PLTR, ZETA, DRAM, MRVL, and NBIS calls and announced the next play is NBIS earnings on 8/12. The most honest commenter noted that large accounts plus conviction just means variance looks like skill. It's an AMA, not a system.
SPCX: The SPCX bull who argued lockup-expiration fear was overblown was widely ridiculed and then declared it would re-test $200 before it ever sees $80. The next thread asks Who's next?, and the consensus answer is SPCX Long holders, with at least one degenerate still short.
HTZ: A $200K YOLO thesis that Hertz just needs to stop actively shitting itself for a couple quarters is somehow the most disciplined DD on the board. The weekend crowd is split between bagholder-pump accusations and STFU with Hertz, while one commenter says it's already up 50%.
RKLB/NBIS: RKLB is back almost exactly where it was before Q1 earnings, and earnings-week hopes are that Neutron can finally break the sound barrier while NBIS closes a deal so Burry can finally disappear. Both report in the Aug 10-15 earnings slate, along with ASTS, SMCI, CRWV, ONDS, and the usual earnings meat grinder.
CELH: Rockstar founder Russ Savage built a Celsius stake and wants to take over as CEO. One commenter noted that bag holding isn't limited to the poor and needy anymore, while the bull case is that Alani could open a female energy-drink market that didn't exist before and the bear case is Celsius is not holding sales/growing anymore. The only certainty is that someone named Russ "Savage" Weiner is involved.
MU: One regard is holding a MU yolo call expiring in two weeks and asking "So what now," to which the top commenter replied Would you like fries with that?. Elsewhere, a seller of 17 MU $500 CSPs is up about $56K because IV crush did more work than the stock ripping to $1,255 ATH, proving every trade is somebody else's loss porn.
PANW: One regard wanted to know why PANW is worth 299x earnings and 30x revenue before laying down puts, and the sub responded with the two eternal truths: Because you didn't buy it and I think they said AI or something. Another commenter called it a value play compared to SpaceX, which is like getting hit by a train and saying at least it wasn't a plane.
RYCEY: One regard posted Rolls-Royce gains and admitted he doesn't know where the sell button is, which is either zen or brain damage. The comment section is mostly regret over selling 5,000 shares at $2 and How do you guys even find these random ass stocks?.
Critical Mineral Gang: The White House is hosting mining CEOs, which has the Critical Mineral Gang claiming we're "SO back" ahead of China's January ban. Commenters are name-checking MP, UUUU, USAR and GDXJ, and at least one regard bought calls because Trump literally told us to buy magnets. Presidential stock tips are how this ends.
The jobs are gone, Berkshire is buying, the rocket is back at the launchpad, and the only genuinely sound investment thesis on this board involves a Wendy's employee going to Yale. But don't worry—we've already priced in our own ruin.
Stay solvent (somehow),
